GarlicFESTsm Cooking Contest – OFFICIAL RULES

Garlic Inc. is holding a cooking contest as part of the GarlicFest. The goal of this contest is to stimulate the creative use of local ingredients, specifically encouraging the preparation of meals in which garlic features prominently. Finalists will prepare their dishes prior to be judged at the GarlicFest on Saturday, September 1st at 11:30am.
1st Place: $500
2nd Place: $250
HOW TO ENTER:
Entry Form: Complete the Entry Form below online and submit with your recipe by August 1, 2018. A group of up to 8 finalists will be selected from the entries to prepare their recipes for the judges during the GarlicFest. A panel of food professionals will review submitted entries and select the top 8 finalists. These finalists will be notified via email of their selection no later than August 15, 2018. Finalists will receive additional instructions with this notification.
Submission of Recipe: Your recipe must be submitted with your entry form and prepared food entry. Your recipe must include at least 6 cloves of garlic (or 3 tsp of minced or diced garlic). Your recipe will be assigned the same number as your entry form. Each recipe submitted must be in English and must include U.S. standard measurements, a list of ingredients – in order, complete preparation instructions, cooking time and temperature, serving size and number of servings, size of pans and any special utensils or special cookware needed. Your recipe must serve at least 6.
ELIGIBILITY: Enter as often as you like but you can only win one prize per household. The contest is open to nonprofessional chefs who are at least 18 years old on September 1, 2018. Winners must be present to win.
JUDGING: Every attempt will be made so that your identity will not be disclosed to the judges-only numbers will identify each submission. Your recipe and food entry will be judged by a panel of judges. Your food entry will be judged on the following: (1) creativity, (2) appearance, (3) appropriate use of garlic (4) use of fresh ingredients and (5) taste. Judges will assign points for each of these 5 considerations. The decisions of the judges are final. Winners will be announced during the 1:30pm music break on Saturday.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS: By participating in the contest, you agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify Garlic, Inc., its sponsors, the City of Bloomington and all affiliates, directors, officers, employees, it agents and assigns from and against all liability whatsoever for any injury, loss, harm, damage (including, but not limited to property damage, personal injury and/or death), claims, actions, costs and expenses (including without limitation, all attorneys’ fees and court costs) arising directly or indirectly from or in connection with participation in the contest, including the use or misuse of prizes and prize related activities. Participants also acknowledge and agree that the above parties do not make any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize or portion thereof. Submission of a Contest Entry grants Garlic, Inc, its sponsors, agents and assigns the right to publish, sell, use, adapt, edit and/or modify the entry/recipe and your photo and likeness in anyway and anywhere in the world without limitation, as it solely determines, without further compensation.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering the contest, you hereby release Garlic, Inc., its sponsors, directors, associates, agents and assigns from all liability for equipment failure, failure to perform, loss of information, inaccurate information, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in operation, defect, theft, unauthorized use or other act. Garlic, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any person and entry at its sole discretion, for any reason, including harassing, acting in an unsportsmanlike manner, being disruptive, abusive or threatening, or tampering with the contest, equipment, any person, property or our website.
