RECIPE REQUIREMENTS: Each recipe submitted must be in English, typed or legibly printed or written on an 8 ½” x 11″ paper and must include U.S. standard measurements, a list of ingredients – in order, complete preparation instructions, cooking time and temperature, serving size and number of servings, size of pans and any special utensils or special cookware needed. Your recipe must serve at least 6.
CONTEST DIVISIONS: The contests will include both a youth (18 and younger) and an adult (19 and older) division.
HOW TO ENTER:
Entry Form: Complete the “Entry Form” and bring it with you along with your recipe and prepared food entry at the appointed time and place on the day of the contest. Your entry form will be assigned a number by the staff.
Submission of Recipe: Your recipe must be submitted with your entry form and prepared food entry. Your recipe must include at least 6 cloves of garlic (or 3 tsp of minced or diced garlic). Your recipe may not have your name or any information identifying you. Your recipe will be assigned the same number as your entry form.
Submission of Food Entry (6 servings): Your food entry must be fully prepared prior to arriving at the site as no actual food preparation is allowed in the park. The entry must be made by following the recipe accompanying it. You must keep your entry at an appropriate temperature up to submission and provide 3 individual servings for the judges. Your food entry and serving platter may not have your name or any information identifying you and may not be returned to you. You may submit a photo of your entry when you submit your item. Your food entry will be assigned the same number as your entry form and recipe.
Time and Place: Bring your entry form, recipe and food entry to the Information Tent on the east side of 3rd Street Park.
Youth Division: You must submit your entry form, recipe and food entry between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2nd.
Adult Division: You must submit your entry form, recipe and food entry between 11a.m. and 11:30 on Saturday, September 2nd.
ELIGIBILITY: Enter as often as you like but you can only win one prize per household. The contest is open to everyone. Employees, officers, directors, affiliates, advertising and publicity agencies and members of their immediate family (parent, child, sibling and spouse of each) or households of any of the above are not eligible. Winners must be present to win.
JUDGING: Every attempt will be made so that your identity will not be disclosed to the judges-only numbers will identify each submission. Your recipe and food entry will be judged by a panel of judges. Your food entry will be judged on the following: (1) creativity, (2) appearance, (3) appropriate use of garlic (4) use of fresh ingredients and (5) taste. Judges will assign points for each of these 5 considerations. The decisions of the judges are final. Winners will be announced about 1 hour after the contest closes.
PRIZES: Cash prizes and/or other prizes for the adult’s division are for 1st and 2nd places. Cash prizes for the youth’s division are: $50 for 1st and $25 for 2nd. Other prizes and winners may be announced.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS: By participating in the contest, you agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify Garlic, Inc., its sponsors, the City of Bloomington and all affiliates, directors, officers, employees, it agents and assigns from and against all liability whatsoever for any injury, loss, harm, damage (including, but not limited to property damage, personal injury and/or death), claims, actions, costs and expenses (including without limitation, all attorneys’ fees and court costs) arising directly or indirectly from or in connection with participation in the contest, including the use or misuse of prizes and prize related activities. Participants also acknowledge and agree that the above parties do not make any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize or portion thereof. Submission of a Contest Entry grants Garlic, Inc, its sponsors, agents and assigns the right to publish, sell, use, adapt, edit and/or modify the entry/recipe and your photo and likeness in anyway and anywhere in the world without limitation, as it solely determines, without further compensation.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering the contest, you hereby release Garlic, Inc., its sponsors, directors, associates, agents and assigns from all liability for equipment failure, failure to perform, loss of information, inaccurate information, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in operation, defect, theft, unauthorized use or other act. Garlic, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any person and entry at its sole discretion, for any reason, including harassing, acting in an unsportsmanlike manner, being disruptive, abusive or threatening, or tampering with the contest, equipment, any person, property or our website.
